It is white, bitter smelling and made from the resin sap of the Boswellia tree. Biblical Israelites kept it pure and sacred for the tabernacle in Exodus 30:34-38. It is quite an expensive commodity and rare to find it in its purity because of the wars and social tensions in the area of origin.
